The Professional Fighters League playoffs continue with four semifinal fights in the featherweight and welterweight divisions.
Headlining PFL 9 is an anticipated featherweight fight between 2022 champion Brendan Loughnane and Kai Kamaka III. Whoever emerges as the victor in the main event will then go up against the winner between Gabriel Braga and Timur Khizriev. All playoff fighters made weight, including the participants of the welterweight semifinal bouts: Magomed Umalatov vs. Neiman Gracie and Shamil Musaev vs. Murad Ramazanov.
Welterweight Mukhamed Berkhamov initially missed weight for his fight against Ray Cooper III. After receiving additional time, Berkhamov returned to weigh in at 170.5 pounds. Additionally, welterweight Eric Alequin reportedly didn’t appear during the weigh-ins for his fight against Luca Poclit. Alequin subsequently did not pass his medical exams and has been pulled from the event.
Loughnane (28-5) has quickly become one of the faces of the organization. The English fighter bounced back from a surprising knockout loss in 2023 against Jesus Pinedo with TKO wins over Pedro Carvalho and Justin Gonzales. He’ll look to fight his way to his second PFL finals. Meanwhile, Kamaka III (14-5) is on an impressive five-fight win streak that includes decision wins over Carvalho, Bubba Jenkins and Henry Corrales.
The PFL 9 main card will air live on ESPN and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Friday. Prelims air at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT exclusively on ESPN+.
