The Orioles have taken the lead from the Yankees for the AL East and don’t show any signs of slowing down.
The Yankees started the season on fire, winning 51 of their first 75 games of the year. Since then, they’ve lost 16 of their next 21 games and have lost their grip on 1st place in the AL East.
In the last 10 days, Aaron Judge hasn’t hit a home run and the Yankees have suffered seven losses in nine games. Gerrit Cole, the starting pitcher, has only started four games this season and his performance has been disappointing, to say the least.
Cole’s got a 6.75 ERA on the season and he’s given up 5 home runs in just 4 starts. He’s allowing lefties to hit 0.310 this season and the O’s have got some big left handed bats.
Regarding the O’s, they have chosen rookie Cade Povich. He has a record of 1-3 after 6 starts, with a 6.51 ERA and has allowed 6 home runs.
Povich has faced off with the Yankees once before, going 4.2 innings and finishing with a 1.93 ERA; giving up just 1 hit and 1 earned run.
It seems like it was a big of a lucky start for Povich in their last one. Despite giving up just the 1 run, he surrendered 5 walks, and recorded just 1 strikeout. Oh, and Judge wasn’t active for that one. We know what Judge does to lefties.
