WNBA Sun vs Sky Picks & Odds | June 12, 2024

Connecticut is coming off a nice win vs the Fever after their first loss of the season. They now head to Chicago to take on the Sky for the 2nd time this season. The Sun won the 1st game but only by 4 points.

Even though the dropped a game, it was to the Liberty and they’re a very good team. Still unbeaten on the road, the Sun are 10-1 this season and 3-0 on the road.

This Sun team plays a complete game from front to back and it makes them so dangerous. They pass and rebound the ball extremely well, which all starts with Alyssa Thomas.

Thomas, along with DeWanna Bonner and Brionna Jones make up this powerhouse offense. The Sun play a slow game, ranking last in the league for pace, but that’s ok. This team knows how to control the game and can still lay it on.

Can Chicago find ways to pull off an upset tonight?

Marina Mabrey and Angel Reese high five after a play.

Chicago has gained a lot of attention to start off this season with the coming of rookie Angel Reese. The team has started 4-6 despite all the attention the team is getting. It all stems from them hating on a girl for no reason, but I digress.

To go along with that 4-6 start, they are 1-4 at home. That is not very good in case you were wondering. Joking aside, they aren’t terrible on paper. The Sky rank 3rd in pace, 1st in offensive rebounds and 1st in steals.

Reese has the help of Marina Mabrey and Chennedy Carter. Carter has been the surprise player, averaging 12.9 points off the bench. Reese is averaging 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, but she’s starting.

The Sky are going to have to play at the top of their game tonight. One thing that works in their favor is they have played each other once. They will need to watch some tape and make the adjustments from last games mistakes.

Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I think this line is only 7 points because the Sun only won by 4 points last game. This line should be a bit longer and could get there before tip-off.

Connecticut is going to try and control the entire tempo of this game. They will look to get the ball in the hands of Bonner and Thomas, as well as Jones down low. Look for Thomas to move the ball around a lot.

Bonner will be shooting the ball a lot and Thomas will be down low to grab offensive boards if they are there. I think Bonner is good for 2+ and 3+ 3-pointers. The 2+ will probably be very juiced but good for a parlay.

I also think the Sun push Reese around a bit this time. She did get 13 points and 5 rebounds in their first game, but she has been averaging around 14 points and 11 rebounds per game in her last 3 games. I like Reese to get 10+ rebounds tonight.

With all that being said, we’re taking the Sun -7.5 on the road, DeWanna Bonner for 3+ 3-pointers and Angel Reese for 10+ rebounds. Let’s have a night people.
