We’re gearing up for a showdown in the Western Conference as the Minnesota Lynx square off against the Las Vegas Aces. Despite an initial slow start, Las Vegas has fought their way back to the top of the Conference, trailing the Lynx by only 3 games for the leading position. Now, let’s delve into some background information for our Lynx versus Aces selections.
As previously discussed, the Aces had an unusual beginning to their season, but they’ve since returned to their usual form. They currently hold a 17-9 record and rank 2nd in the Western Conference. Their home record this year stands at 9-6, and they’ve won 7 of their last 10 games. They are fresh off a satisfying victory against the Sparks.
A’ja Wilson, who is a probable MVP, has been outstanding this year with an average of 27.3 points and 12 rebounds per game. She has set a record by having the most consecutive performances scoring 25+ points (8). Besides being an exceptional player, A’ja also proves to be a great leader, as she is the face of her franchise.
The exceptional performance of Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray, her teammates in the WNBA and the Olympics, contributes significantly to her excellence in the sport. Despite missing approximately half of the first part of the season due to an injury, Gray managed to maintain her high performance, averaging nearly 5 assists per game right after her return.
Lynx will look to continue to roll right through the Aces
Kayla McBride, a guard for the Minnesota Lynx, drives to the hoop.
Minnesota is experiencing an excellent year. The Lynx, currently leading the Western Conference, have a 19-8 record this season. They are entering this game on a three-game winning streak, with a recent record of 6-4 in their last ten games.
The Lynx are among the top defensive teams in the league, if not the best. They boast the highest defensive rating and hold the second position in steals. This solid defense enables their offense to execute plays with ease.
This season, Napheesa Collier, a gold medalist, is once again leading the Lynx. She is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, making her the heart and soul of the team. Kayla McBride and Alanna Smith have also stepped up, playing crucial roles in supporting Collier.
Tonight, their defense could very well determine the outcome. While the Lynx have no problem scoring, they will need to rein in an offense as strong as the Aces’ to remain competitive. Let’s not forget they faced off back in June, and the Lynx came out on top by 14 points.
Let’s examine the odds and delve into the picks.

Both teams are incredibly skilled, making this a difficult choice. However, I predict a tight game and that’s why I’m leaning towards the Lynx on the spread. With an advantage of 5.5 points, how could we not choose the superior team?
It may sound stereotypical, but the Lynx are ranked 1st for valid reasons. Las Vegas is eager for this victory to inch closer to the top spot and to make up for their previous loss. Despite my prediction of a win for the Aces, I believe the contest will be tight.
Keep an eye out for McBride shooting frequently from the 3-point range. Collier will need to aggressively rebound, in addition to maintaining her usual 20 points per game. Alanna Smith is also expected to secure her rebounds and nearly 2 blocks and steals each game.
We will certainly count on A’ja’s points. The expected range is around 26-28 points with an estimated price of -115. We plan to maintain this momentum, and if the Aces aim to win, A’ja needs to score nearly 30 points.
