In the Western Conference, it’s a showdown of titans as the Minnesota Lynx are set to face off against the Las Vegas Aces. Despite a sluggish opening, the Aces have clawed their way back to the top of the Conference, trailing the Lynx for the premier position by only three games. Now, let’s delve into some background information for our Lynx vs Aces predictions.
As previously stated, the Aces had an unusual beginning, however, they are now back on track. With a record of 17-9, the Aces currently rank second in the Western Conference. They have a home record of 9-6 this year and have won 7 out of their last 10 games. The team is riding high off a convincing victory against the Sparks.
A’ja Wilson, the likely MVP, has had an outstanding year, averaging 27.3 points and 12 rebounds per game. She has set a new record for the most consecutive performances with 25+ points (8). In addition to her stellar performance, A’ja has proven to be a great leader, serving as the face of the franchise.
The high-level performance of her teammates in the WNBA and the Olympics contributes to her exceptional skills. Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray have all been performing admirably. Despite missing nearly half of the first half of the season due to an injury, Gray quickly returned to her peak form, averaging close to 5 assists per game.
Lynx will look to continue to roll right through the Aces
Kayla McBride, a guard for the Minnesota Lynx, drives to the hoop.
The Lynx are experiencing an excellent year in Minnesota, currently leading the Western Conference with a 19-8 record this season. They enter this game following a 3-game winning streak and have a 6-4 record in their most recent 10 games.
The Lynx stand out as one of the best, if not the best, defensive teams in the league. Their defensive rating tops the league, and they rank second in steals. This level of defense facilitates easy offensive plays.
This season, gold medalist Napheesa Collier again takes the lead for the Lynx, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. As the heart and soul of the squad, Collier is supported by key role players Kayla McBride and Alanna Smith, who both have stepped up their game.
Tonight, their defense could possibly be the deciding factor. The Lynx have the ability to score, but they will need to effectively control the Aces’ offense to remain in the game. Looking back at their game in June, the Lynx emerged victorious with a 14 point lead.
Let’s examine the odds and delve into the picks.

This is a challenging one as both teams are exceptional. I predict a tight game this time, which is why I’m backing the Lynx on the spread. When offered 5.5 points, why wouldn’t we go for the superior team?
Even though it may seem cliché, the Lynx are in the top position for a reason. Las Vegas will be desperate for a win to get them a step closer to the top spot, especially after their defeat in the previous game. While I predict a victory for the Aces, I anticipate it will be a tight match.
Keep an eye out for McBride shooting frequently from the 3-point range. Collier will need to intensively rebound, in addition to maintaining her usual 20 points per game. Alanna Smith will also have to secure her rebounds and nearly 2 steals and blocks per game.
We will certainly count on A’ja’s points. The expected range is approximately 26-28 points, with the price likely to be around -115. We plan to keep riding this momentum, and if the Aces wish to emerge victorious, A’ja will need to score nearly 30 points.
