Are we living in a world dominated by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz? These two young tennis stars have emerged as the favorites in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw after securing the first two Grand Slams of the year.
Sinner achieved his Grand Slam breakthrough in January, astonishingly coming back from two sets down to upset Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final.
Despite not being able to secure two consecutive wins at the French Open, falling to Alcaraz in a five-set semifinal after leading two sets to one, he found solace in climbing to the top of the ATP singles rankings. This was due to his journey to the semifinals coupled with an early tournament exit by Novak Djokovic due to an injury.
Alcaraz secured his first French Open and third Grand Slam singles title with a five-set triumph over Alexander Zverev in the finale. He is now set to defend his title at Wimbledon, where he previously bested Djokovic in a five-set match in the previous year’s final.
As the second favorite for the title, trailing only behind Sinner, he will proceed. Going into the first round that kicks off early tomorrow, only Alcaraz, Sinner, and Djokovic have odds lower than +1600.

Who Are the Favorites for the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Title?
The last eight Grand Slam men’s singles titles have been claimed by Djokovic with four (2022 Wimbledon, 2023 Australian Open, 2023 French Open, 2023 US Open), Alcaraz with three (2022 US Open, 2023 Wimbledon, 2024 French Open), and Sinner with one (2024 Australian Open).
Questions surround Djokovic’s current fitness after he experienced a torn meniscus in the fourth round of the French Open against Francisco Cerundolo. However, his victory in that match prior to withdrawing from the tournament and his participation in Wimbledon less than a month later offer clues about his current state and future prospects.
The title is unlikely to go beyond Sinner, Alcaraz, or Djokovic. However, if it does, the most fascinating contender would be Draper, who is the highest-ranked British men’s singles player.

Many of the other players seen as favorites or contenders for Wimbledon are already well-established. However, Draper stands out. Just two weeks ago, this 22-year-old won his first ATP Tour title in Stuttgart, defeating the 2021 Wimbledon finalist Berrettini in three sets.
Draper is the 28th seed in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw, and his quarter features #4 seed Zverev, #13 seed Fritz, and 2022 Wimbledon semifinalist Norrie, who is unseeded and has been usurped as the British #1 after being seeded #19 at the Australian Open and #32 at the French Open.
Draper’s most notable achievement in a Grand Slam so far is reaching the fourth round in last year’s US Open. Apart from this, he hasn’t progressed beyond the second round in any other Grand Slam. However, he did manage to reach the third round in the same tournament in 2022.
However, he is in a good position, considering Zverev has never made it beyond the fourth round at Wimbledon, and Fritz has only surpassed the fourth round once, with a quarterfinal appearance in 2022.
Should Draper overcome Norrie in the second round, he may be a contender to watch in the tournament’s second week.
