49ers @ Seahawks Analysis & Breakdown
The 49ers have already lost two divisional games this season.
The Niners and the Seahawks entered Week5 as two of the biggest favorites on the board and both fell to much lesser teams. The Niners now sit at 2-3 on the year, with losses to the Vikings, Rams and Cardinals.
San Francisco’s coming up on their third divisional game of the first six weeks and have now lost 2 of the 3 so far. If the Niners find a way to lose this game, they may seal their post-season fate before we’re halfway through the season.
The Seahawks came out of the gates firing. They began the season 3-0 and it looked like Geno Smith might really be the answer.
Smith’s averaging 293.8 passing yards per game, he’s thrown 5 touchdowns, 4 interceptions and has yet to throw multiple touchdowns in a single game this year.
Seattle’s lost back to back games, both games by more than a touchdown.

George Kittle battled through a rib injury last week.
It’s tough to bet players nursing injuries in the NFL, especially when coming off a short week and playing on Thursday Night Football. Kittle’s currently nursing a bit of a rib injury but he played through it in Week 5.

Purdy’s targeted Kittle 29 times in their 4 games together this year, with Kittle seeing a 25% target share in these 4 games; that target share jumps to 27.3% over his L3 games.
He’s scored 3 touchdowns this year, all 3 came over the last 3 weeks. Kittle’s been great against Seattle in his career, averaging 62.5 receiving yards per game on an average of 6.5 targets.
Those numbers jump to 71.6 yards per game with 4 of his 5 touchdowns coming IN Seattle.

Tyler Lockett looks like he’s got a great connection building with Geno Smith.
Walk with me, it’s 2024 and we’re betting on Tyler Lockett. He currently sits third in targets for the Seattle Seahawks, behind both DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba; mainly because of a bad Week 2 where he saw just 2 targets.
Outside of Week 2, Lockett leads the team in targets, receptions and 2nd in receiving yards. This week he lines up against the 49ers, a team that’s been allowing less than 200 passing yards per game.
San Francisco’s sitting at 2-3 on the year and somehow haven’t even entered the toughest part of their schedule. Outside of Justin Jefferson in Week 1, the Niners have faced the Rams without Kupp/Nacua, the Cardinals, the Patriots, and the dysfunctional Jets.
They’ve yet to be really tested through the air and this week they face off with Geno Smith, the guy who’s averaging just under 300 passing yards per game.
Geno’s been one of the biggest reasons the Seahawks lead the division, and if they hope to stay there, they’ll need him to step up once again; that’s why we’re going with one of his favorite targets, Tyler Lockett.
