We broke down three early round quaterbacks I love earlier this week. And while I generally don’t draft QB’s early, they are the three names that I would reach for if I’m not enamored by the other skill positions available at my selection. Now it’s time to turn to dig deeper and find quaterbacks worth selecting from NFL fantasy draft rounds 5-8. There’s is where you can find some prime value, and quaterbacks who could end up in the top 5 of their positions at a value.
This is an ongoing series to highlight players who REEK of value in NFL fantasy drafts. We aren’t talking about McCaffrey with the 1st overall pick, but instead we are going to be finding gems. Each article will feature a position within a range of draft rounds (we will always skip the 1st round). We will assume that these picks are for 12-team leagues with .5 PPR and will not be discussing in terms of Superflex. On top of that I’ll highlight a futures bet that corresponds with each player, all of whose odds can be found on BETONLINE.
So without further ado, let’s kick it off with NFL fantasy football 2024 late round value picks: the wide receivers. It’s mock draft season baby!!!
1. Quaterback Value Rounds 5-8: Anthony Richardson
Anthony Richardson matches profiles of dual threat QB’s making him a value NFL fantasy pick
This pick is a bit risky, but drafting a solid quaterback vet like Cousins or Stafford late in the draft with Anthony Richardson may be a league winning strategy. While we only saw Richardson play three full games in his rookie campaign with the Indianapolis Colts, those three games were glorious. He put up 20+ fantasy points in two of those games and 17 in the third. Richardson has a similar dual-threat profile of Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, but can be had in the 5th round.
While there should be concerns about him staying healthy with the violent way Richardson plays the game, his upside is absolutely tremendous. Last season he was on pace for over 700 rushing yards (which would put him in the upper echelon for quaterbacks) and double digit rushing touchdowns. He displayed a strong arm as well throwing for over 200 yards in two of his games played.
The Indianapolis Colts don’t feel like a complete team, but they are much better than perceived. It’s easy to forget that just a couple years ago this team was ready to go all in with Andrew Luck. They have a strong offensive line, multiple receiving threats and a top running back. If Richardson stays healthy he can easily produce top 3-5 quaterback numbers or better, making him a strong value NFL fantasy pick.
Anthony Richardson o7.5 rushing touchdowns for +112 on BetOnline:
I absolutely love this bet. Richardson had 4 rushing touchdowns in his three full NFL games last season. As long as he stays healthy he could be hitting this line 3/4 of the way through the season. Of course, last year top RB Johnathan Taylor was out, but that still shouldn’t slow down Richardson to the point of only having 7 or less rushing touchdowns.

2. NFL Fantasy Rounds 5-8 Quaterback: Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott is going to have to air it out this year making him a great value pick
Yes, names like Kyler Murray and Joe Burrow can be drafted in round 6, and while they hold considerable NFL fantasy value that late, they also sit in a round that has loads of value in the running back and the wide receiver position. I’d much rather snatch Richardson in round 5 and someone like D’Andre Swift in round 6 for zero RB strategies rather than grabbing Kamara in round 5 and Burrow round 6. Or better yet, I could fill all of my RB and WR spots and grab Dak Prescott in round 7. These articles are all about value after all.
Prescott was 3rd best quaterback last season. In his eight NFL seasons he has 5 top 10 finishes and has played less than 16 games in a season only twice. He is a reliable option that has just enough rushing upside to go along with an offense that loves to air it out. Once again Dak will be throwing bombs to one of the top receivers in the game, CeeDee Lamb, and will be behind one of the better offensive lines in the league.
Dak is coming off a 36 passing touchdown and 4,516 passing yard season. The Cowboys also lost top running back Tony Pollard and will be looking to use a committee in the backfield. With less rushing threats Dak may be relied more heavily to use his legs to make rushing plays or scramble into the end zone. He’s a reliable QB option this late in NFL fantasy draft and one I’ll be targeting.
Dak Prescott o28.5 passing touchdowns for -122 on BetOnline:
Dak has hit this line in 3 of the last 5 seasons. Both misses were in seasons where he played in 12 or fewer games. With less running threats Prescott will have to use his arm and the emergence of CeeDee Lamb as a top receiver and Jake Ferguson as a big bodied receiving TE means Dak will have the supporting cast to continue his dominance in the air.

3. Value Quaterbacks NFL Fantasy Rounds 5-8: Jordan Love
Jordan Love exploded last season and will once again hold top 10 value late in NFL drafts
The Green Bay Packers are a quaterback factory. We all knew this, and we still all doubted Jordan Love’s upside last season. He silenced the haters with his precession in the passing game and high end football IQ. Ending the season as the 5th best quaterback in most leagues, he took many fantasy teams to the championship. This season his supporting cast is stronger and his experience could mean he is ready to repeat.
Love will have had another full season as the Packers’ starting quarterback. With more experience and comfort in the role, he’s likely to show improved decision-making, accuracy, and command of the offense. This progression could translate into more consistent fantasy production. Now having had time to build strong chemistry with his receiving corps, including Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Reed, we could see Love reach new fantasy levels. The longer these players work together, the better their timing and understanding will be, leading to more explosive plays and scoring opportunities.
Could Love’s 32 touchdown and 4,159 passing yard season just be the beginning of his young career? In every draft I’d prefer to take this gamble rather than drafting a similar gunslinger like Burrow earlier in fantasy drafts. Love is one of my favorite NFL fantasy value picks and someone I will be targeting everywhere.
Jordan Love u27.5 passing touchdowns for -132 on BetOnline:
I know this goes against the high praise for Love, but it doesn’t mean he still isn’t a steal in the 8th round of NFL fantasy drafts. Having a touchdown total around 27 is no small feat. And the Packers added stud running back Josh Jacobs which could vulture some red zone touchdowns. It may be difficult for Love to replicate his top 5 QB performance now that there is more film on him, but if you can still draft a top 8 QB this late AND win a futures bet, then you will be happy.
