The 2024 NBA Finals could come to an end on Monday when the Boston Celtics host the Dallas Mavericks for a pivotal Game 5 matchup at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Just whenever everyone (including myself) thought the Mavericks were done, they pulled off the upset victory in Game 4. Hope was at an all-time low following three straight losses to begin the series, leaving time to tell if the latest outcome was a fluke or the start of a major comeback.

Having said that, it’s hard to imagine the Celtics playing as poorly as they did on Friday. While the Mavericks shot an impressive 50.5% from the floor and 40.5% from deep in Game 4, the Celtics finished with success rates of 36.3% and 34.1%, respectively. It also didn’t help that Boston only tallied 35 first-half points, whereas Dallas finished with 61.

The Celtics struggled to maintain control of the ball, too, finishing the game with 14 turnovers, resulting in 17 points for the Mavs. That’s without mentioning how Joe Mazzulla’s team was also outrebounded 52-31.

The victory was a rare one for Dallas. After all, the Mavericks hadn’t beaten the Celtics since March 2022 and lost seven straight games against the latter before the much-needed Game 4 victory.

Can the Mavericks beat the Celtics in back-to-back contests?

The Dallas crowd played a huge role in the Mavericks’ latest win, though. Unfortunately, they won’t have that support tonight, turning things into what’ll likely be an uphill battle.

The Celtics rarely lose at TD Garden, boasting a 45-6 SU home record (88.2%) between the 2023-24 regular season and playoffs. They’ve also won each of their last five home games, outscoring those opponents by an average of 12.2 points per game.

The Mavericks have played well on the road, but let’s not forget that they’re already 0-2 SU at TD Garden in this series. In fact, Dallas is just 2-8 SU on its last 10 trips to Boston and has lost four of the last four road tilts by a minus-16.5 average scoring margin.

Additionally, the Celtics are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Mavericks overall.

Will the Celtics resume their dominance over the Mavericks tonight?

Even though the Mavericks showed some heart on Friday, let’s lock in the Celtics to win. Boston will be hungry to bounce back, which shouldn’t be an issue at TD Garden where it has thrived all season. The Mavericks failed to score 100 points in the first two games of this series, showing just how tough it beat the Celtics in their backyard. Besides, they can’t shut the likes of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum down forever.

Hauser has been one of the more underrated players involved in the NBA Finals. The 26-year-old sharpshooter has been solid from the perimeter through four games, averaging 2.3 threes made on 4.3 attempts (52.9%), finishing with the Over on this prop three times. That includes when he shot 4-of-6 from deep in Game 4 despite the Celtics’ lackluster effort.

As he heats up at the right time of the year, it’s easy to feel confident in this Hauser-based prop tonight.
