EURO 2024 Semifinals, Spain vs France: Prediction & Best Bets

We are down to our final four teams. Just three matches remain in the EURO 2024, two semifinals and the title match, with the beginning of the end starting today. We have quite the grundge match between two of the best in the world, as Spain takes on France. Although France is currently 2nd in the world and Spain is 8th, we can see below that the oddsmakers have the French as a slight underdog in this match.

This is interesting considering the Spanish just lost one of their top midfielders, and the odds seems slightly unchanged. Both teams expected to be here from the start of the tournament, and I had my eye on Spain, but France has surprised me. Despite struggling to find the back of the net, they keep finding ways to win.

Will France continue to roll tonight in Munich? Or will the young kids from Spain keep their EURO hopes alive?

Let’s dive into the match!

Can Spain Survive Without Pedri?

Pedri suffered a tournament-ending injury in the Quarterfinals

Just 10 minutes into their quarterfinal bout against Germany, Pedri went down with a knee injury, and he would not return. While this is a huge blow to the Spanish, it does not worry me. Dani Olmo subbed in for the injured Pedri and scored the opening goal in the 51st minute.

Even without Pedri on the pitch, Spain has the ball skills and poise to play possession, get forward when able, and capitalize on chances. They’ve been scoring plenty this tournament, and their back line has held strong as well. The Spanish backline has 3 shutouts and has only allowed 2 total goals in 5 matches, while the offense has put up 11 goals already.

Advantage Spain

This is where I think they have a slight advantage.

France cannot score. They snuck past Austria on an Own Goal, were held scoreless against the Dutch, and only scored on a Penalty Kick against Poland. They miraculously survived against Belgium in the Round of 16 on another own goal in the 85th minute, and again were held scoreless against Portugal, advancing on PKs.

All in all, their offense has not actually scored a goal. They’ve had the benefit of two OGs a PK to put the ball in the net, and I think they will need to score to keep up with Spain. The Spanish are playing soccer that I can best describe as fearless. They are not afraid. They play the ball wide, sending their wingers flying up and down the sidelines, swinging dangerous balls into the box from both sides. Eventually, I think Spain breaks through.

I have had Spain as my Champion from the start of the tournament (+800), and an injury to Pedri does not change that. This team is deep, they are well coached, and they are playing EURO winning soccer. Give me Spain to advance.

EURO 2024: Spain vs France Best Bets

Best Bets: Spain Draw No Bet (-120) BetOnline

I’ve got a half unit sprinkled on Spain PK or draw no bet, as I do see them finishing this game in 90 minutes. However, we will also take them to advance at nearly the same price. Like I explained above, to beat Spain, you are going to have to score. They have netted a goal in every match so far, and have only allowed 0.4 per match as well. This back line is stacked, tough to break through, and you have to worry about being exposed on the defensive side of the ball.

I don’t see France being overly aggressive, and ultimately I think that will be their downfall. The French are not equipped to try and hold Spain scoreless for 90 minutes, and will need to net one or more of their own. If they play too conservative, I see Spain breaking through first, leaving the French on their heels.

If they come out too aggressive, I certainly see Spain taking advantage and exposing them on the counter attack. I’m willing to lose a unit to watch Spain advance, and if they get it done in 90 minutes than we are really celebrating.
