The Dodgers head into the tilt as the road favorites, but can they be trusted? As great as David Roberst’ club is, the Dodgers have dropped six of their last 10 away matchups with each of those losses coming against a team that currently owns a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are winners of eight in a row, having outscored those opponents by an average margin of 3.1 runs per contest. Additionally, the Bronx Bombers are on a five-game winning streak with a plus-4.0 average run margin at Yankee Stadium.
Can the Dodgers reverse their recent road fortunes?
Nevertheless, the Yankees rarely lose when the odds are against them. They own an MLB-best 69.2% success rate as the underdog in 2024 and tonight’s game marks the first time that they’re underdogs at home this season.
A large part of the odds has to do with the Dodgers starting Yoshinobu Yamamoto tonight. Does Dodgers RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto have what it takes to handle the Yankees’ elite lineup?
The Dodgers are a fantastic team that won’t go down without a fight, but I’m taking the Yankees here. New York has been tremendous at home and its dangerous batting order should challenge Yamamoto, who’s been just okay on the road. It’s going to be a back-and-forth affair, but the Yankees’ deep lineup combined with the home-field advantage should produce a win.
I will be taking the Under on the 9-run total, though. Not only is the Under 8-3 in LA’s last 11 games, but it’s 8-4 in the last 12 Dodgers-Yankees tilts. Those showdowns only saw an average of 6.7 runs per game.
With the way that both starters have been performing this season, I don’t expect to see a mind-blowing amount of offense.

Unless he’s absolutely at the top of his game, there’s a decent chance that Yamamoto gives up a few runs tonight.
