Dodgers vs Brewers: MLB Prediction, Odds & Best Bets (8/13)

The Brewers host the Dodgers in the Midwest tonight and they are looking to enact some revenge. Last night, the Dodgers were able to win the first game of this four game series, beating Milwaukee 5-2. The Dodgers have now gotten the best of the Brewers in 3/4 matchups this season and look to continue their dominance tonight. Both teams lead their divisions in the National League, but both need to keep distance between them and their opponents.

The Brewers are safely ahead by 7.5 games in the NL Central, but they’ve now dropped 2 straight at home after winning 5 in a row. They have a decent lead, but nothing is guaranteed, and ultimately the Brewers will bring their A-game tonight. The Dodgers’ lead is much slimmer, as they are just 3.5 games ahead of Arizona and San Diego in the NL West. Los Angeles has two teams breathing down their neck, and will need to add some wins to put some distance between their foes.

We are in for quite the treat as Gavin Stone and Colin Rea get the nods for their team, as both pitchers combined for 19 wins this season. Can Stone find a way to get his 10th win on the road? Or will Rea and the Brewers get some revenge for last night?

Will Brewers Pull Off Home Upset?

Yelich and the Brewers look to beat the Dodgers at home tonight

Colin Rea is 10-3 this season, and his home and away splits are nearly unchanged. While his ERA increases roughly a quarter of a run, his WHIP drops from 1.18 to 1.03, which is quite the difference. On top of that, he is undefeated in all 4 starts since the All Star Break, and boasts a 7-1 record since May 25th. The man is heating up at the right time for his team.

Rea has not seen the Dodgers this year, but he is coming off pitching 7 scoreless innings at Atlanta, giving up just 5 hits and a walk while striking out 9 batters. I trust the righty to come out and shove against the Dodgers at home tonight. As for those Dodgers, they have won 4 straight games, 7 of their L9, and their splits remain about the same. Their team average drops slightly against RHP, and Rea will be a tough foe to face. And it will take all of Stone to sit down the Brewers.

Stone has been in quite the slump. He hasn’t won a game since June 26th, and the Dodgers are 1-5 in his L6 starts overall. Stone has been responsible for 3 of those losses, but he certainly has not helped at all. Since July, Stone has a 6.97 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP. That is simply not going to cut it. He has allowed 3+ Earned Runs in 3 straight starts, and 5 of his L6 outings. Against the Brewers tonight, I could see him having plenty of trouble on the road.

Taking one out of my boy, Colby Marchio’s playbook with a first 5 team total. I think the Brewers are able to rake a few runs off of Stone, and for plus money, I’ll take the bait. The Brewers have 7 above average hitters according to batters-box.com (Do NOT Forget the Hyphen), and I will certainly bet on Stone’s struggles to continue.

The Brewers are hitting .263 as a team since the All Star Break, and .276 in the month of August. This team is fired up and needs some wins to hold their lead in the division, and tonight I see them producing some runs early. Stone has given up 8 earned runs in his last 8.2 innings pitched over 2 starts. I see the Brewers having no issues clearing this number early for us tonight.
