Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers, Game 6 Best Bets: Will Edmonton Advance to Finals?

The Edmonton Oilers return to their home ice tonight with the opportunity to secure their place in the Stanley Cup Finals with a victory over the Dallas Stars. Last night, the Florida Panthers defeated the New York Rangers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, confirming their second consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers have the chance to replicate this achievement in front of their home fans tonight.

Stars vs Oilers Series History

Following their double OT victory in Game 1 in Dallas, the Oilers were defeated in the subsequent two games by the Stars. Even though the Oilers launched more shots than the Stars in each game, they were unable to bypass Jake Oettinger. The Dallas defense also played a noteworthy part, blocking more than 22 shots in all three games.

In the fourth game at their home ground, the Oilers were quickly down by 1-0 within the first minute, thanks to Wyatt Johnston. Five minutes later, Esa Lindell scored again, giving Dallas an early 2-0 lead. The Oilers, already trailing 2-1 in the series, were now down 2-0 at home as well. However, they didn’t let this deter them. Both Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard scored goals towards the end of the first round, managing to even the score at 2-2.

And the Oilers never looked back.

Edmonton scored twice in the 2nd period and added an empty net goal in the 3rd, securing a 5-2 win and leveling the series at 2 games each before returning to Texas. The Oilers maintained their momentum in Dallas, where Ryan Nugent-Hopkins netted two powerplay goals, setting the stage for a 3-0 lead. The Stars managed to score one in the 3rd period but still suffered a 3-1 home defeat.

We find ourselves back north of the border now, with the Oilers on the brink of securing the Western Conference Finals. Will it be a triumphant moment for Connor McDavid and his team? Or will the Stars stage an unexpected victory, pushing for a Game 7 on their home turf?

Will Oilers Seal Series at Home?

This year, Zach Hyman has led the Oilers and the NHL by scoring 13 goals in the postseason.

The Oilers are currently in great form, exhibiting their characteristic streakiness. During the regular season, they managed to clinch victory in three successive games, six times. This does not account for their eight and sixteen games winning streaks. They’ve already secured two three-game winning streaks in the playoffs, including a hat-trick win against the Kings. I predict they’ll triumph over the Stars in tonight’s home game and secure their spot in the Stanley Cup Finals.

Jake Oettinger and the Stars defense have been stretched to their limits in attempting to restrain the Oilers offense, yet it hasn’t been sufficient. In every game of this five-game series, the Oilers have taken more shots than the Stars, averaging 30.4 shots on goal compared to the Stars’ 22.25 in their last four games. The Oilers have managed to score three goals in four out of five games in this series, while Dallas has only achieved this twice. I am doubtful that the Stars can generate enough offense to compete with the Oilers’ onslaught, and I anticipate their defense will eventually buckle under the pressure.

The Stars are managing to block 21.6 shots per game and have blocked 20+ shots in 80% of their games. Despite this, the Oilers consistently take over 30 shots per game. I have no qualms supporting the aggressive offensive approach of this team. Although Oettinger’s goaltending skills are superior, I suspect we may see a slight decline from him and the Stars’ defense.

I’m backing the Oilers to succeed, and I’m being quite ambitious about it too.

Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers Best Bets

In this NHL postseason, Leon Draisaitl has accumulated 27 points, ranking him second in the league, just behind his teammate, Connor McDavid.

Best Bet: Oilers in Reg (+122) Bovada

I believe the Oilers will be wrapping up tonight. Their top players should rise to the occasion in this crucial game. They all witnessed the Panthers secure their spot last night, and now Florida is on standby, awaiting their opponents. Edmonton doesn’t want to toy with the Stars, nor give a potential Stanley Cup Finals adversary extra time to rest and strategize.

They should be fully committed to concluding this thing tonight.

The Stars have been managing to score only 2.83 goals per game this postseason, with a mere 27.6 shots on goal per game. Both of these numbers have declined during this series, and Oettinger can only sustain his exceptional performance for so long. I am confident that the Oilers will finish this in 60 minutes tonight, and that’s where my money is. I’ll also put half a unit on the puck line, essentially placing a bet on an empty netter to conclude the series.

Take us home, Oilers.
