We’ve got some holiday baseball this afternoon in Wisconsin as the Milwaukee Brewers host the Chicago Cubs at American Family Field. These NL Central teams have already faced off one time this season earlier in the month. The Brewers took Game 1 in Chicago, however the Cubs ended up winning the next two games to take the series.
Today marks the first of four games between the division rivals, and we’ve got our best bets in the contest!

Can Brewers Defend their Home Field?
Can Gasser lead Brewers to a victory at home?
The Cubbies are currently 3.5 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central standings, but Milwaukee is taking it to them in terms of run differential. Milwaukee has a +45 differential, leading the division by far, ahead of the Cubs who are next closest with a -3 differential. Both teams are coming off a loss, with the Cubs losing 4 straight, and they are just a different team when they aren’t at Wrigley Field. The 27-26 Cubs are just 12-15 on the road, and Justin Steele is coming off a couple of “character building” outings.
The Cubs have yet to win a game where Steele starts, and he’s been getting rocked recently. He’s allowed 6 hits in 3 straight games, allowing 4, 5, and 6 runs in that process as well. Steele has also allowed 6 home runs in his L3 starts. I think the Brewers could get to him today, and I’ve got my eye on a specific batter as well.
Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers Best Bets
Yelich is on a 3 game hitting streak!
Best Bets: Christian Yelich Over 1.5 Hits, Runs, & RBIs (-115) BetOnline
Yelich has it all going for him right now. He has hits in 3 straight games, including 8 of the 10 games he has played at home. He’s also on a 5 game hitting streak in Milwaukee, and has great history against Mr. Steele.
Yelich is hitting .320 this season, and that stays above .300 when facing LHP. Plus, in 24 plate appearances against Steele, Yelich bats .381 with 8 singles. You heard that correct, 8 singles for Yelich off of Steele. Now, I’m opting into taking his HRR because of the cushion and value it brings.
He’s cleared 1.5 HRR in 56% of games overall, and 6/10 at home. Yelich has has 2+ HRR in 17 of his L10 against the Cubs, and 10 of his L15 against the Cubs in Milwaukee. Specifically, he has cleared this line in 8/9 in Milwaukee vs the Cubs, totaling 40 HRR in that stretch. Give me Yelich to keep it going tonight.
