Braves @ Diamondbacks Analysis & Breakdown
The Diamondbacks are currently 3.5 games back of the Padres for a Wild Card spot.
The Braves do not appear to be the same team as last year. The injury to Acuna Jr. significantly impacted Atlanta, while unexpected reduced output from players such as Austin Riley and Matt Olson was also surprising.
Last year, Olson achieved 54 home runs and recorded 139 RBI. Although it wasn’t anticipated that he would replicate these historic figures, it appears he is on track to finish with fewer than half the home runs and a considerable decline in RBI.
Riley’s decrease hasn’t been as drastic, but his numbers are still lower.
Arizona’s coming off a World Series appearance but currently sit 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. It’s a similar place to where they were last season, but the play of their youngster Corbin Carroll is concerning.
Last season, he completed 155 games with a record of 25 home runs and 75 RBI. However, this season has been challenging for the young player. In 89 games, he only managed to hit 3 home runs and 25 RBI with a batting average of 0.210. Despite the difficult start, it’s not about how you begin, but how you end.
