Dark Horse Heisman Trophy Winner
If you haven’t been staying up for late-night Mountain West football, you might be missing out on one of the most electrifying players in the country: Boise State running back Aston Jeanty. This past weekend against Washington State, he rushed for 259 yards and scored four touchdowns, averaging an impressive ten yards per carry on 26 attempts. The junior has been a force this season, racking up 845 rushing yards with a 10.3 yards-per-carry average and 13 touchdowns.

At 5’9″ and 215 pounds, Jeanty carved up then-No. 7 Oregon’s defense for nearly 200 yards (192), with 7.7 yards per rush and three scores, including a 70-yard sprint. If he keeps this up, an invite to New York in December is looking likely. With the Broncos facing only one ranked opponent remaining as of September 30—No. 25 UNLV on October 25 in Las Vegas—and a couple of tough road trips to Hawaii and Wyoming, he has a solid chance to shine.
For the Heisman Trophy, the competition will likely include Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, Colorado’s Travis Hunter, and Aston Jeanty. With odds around 10/1, Jeanty offers fantastic value, and some books even list him at 12/1, so be sure to shop around for the best odds!
