Last Game…

  • On a night when it felt like nothing was going the Canes’ way, they flipped the script for a late come-from-behind effort. Overcoming a two-goal deficit in the third for a second consecutive game, Shayne Gostisbehere and Martin Necas forced overtime, where Sebastian Aho would then win it for the group.
  • Frederik Andersen was fantastic behind it all, stopping 32 out of 34 shots faced en route to the win.

In Net…

  • With Andersen playing on Tuesday, it is expected that Pyotr Kochetkov will take his turn in the scheduled rotation this evening.
  • Kochetkov took his first loss of the season on Saturday in St. Louis, allowing four on 23 shots.

Spooky SZN…

  • Gostisbehere’s power-play goal on Tuesday extended his career-best goalscoring streak to four games and gave him the most goals by an NHL defenseman thus far this season (4).
  • He is now one of just four players in the NHL with three power-play goals.

Past, Present, and Future…

  • In addition to Gostisbehere, Aho (2G, 4A) also has a four-game point streak entering tonight.
  • After registering the game-winning goal on Tuesday, he is now just one shy of matching Ron Francis for the most in team history (57).

Milestone Watch…

  • Jordan Martinook is two points shy of 200 NHL points. Tonight is set to be his 400th game as a Hurricane.
  • Martin Necas is one goal shy of 100 NHL/Hurricanes goals.

On The Other Side…

  • The Flames have gotten off to a great start this season, one of just four remaining teams to have not lost in regulation yet.
  • Allowing just 15 goals in six games, Dustin Wolf has been fantastic in net, going 3-0 with a .936 save percentage.
  • As for their skaters, defenseman Rasmus Andersson leads the way with eight points in six games. Only Cale Makar (COL – 14) has more among all NHL blueliners.
