Canes travel to the Music City for their final tune-up before next Friday's regular season opener
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Carolina Hurricanes put a bow on their preseason schedule on Saturday, taking on the Nashville Predators.

Last Game
- An NHL-heavy lineup squeaked out an overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, as Shayne Gostisbehere netted the game-winner for the home team.
- Pyotr Kochetkov looked sharp over the course of 60 minutes, stopping 16 out of 17 shots faced.
- Jackson Blake and Dmitry Orlov each played in their co-team-leading fourth preseason game.
More Scotty!
- Defenseman Scott Morrow made his preseason debut on Friday after missing most of training camp due to an undisclosed injury.
- Post-game Rod Brind’Amour said that it was likely we would see him again in tonight’s game because he had missed some valuable time and games.
Doubling Up
- Morrow is one of three players playing in a back-to-back for the team, joined by Sam Gagner and Tyson Jost.
- Gagner and Jost skated alongside rookie Jackson Blake last night at Lenovo Center.
Zilla’s Final Tune-Up
- After Kochetkov got the nod last night, it feels probable that Frederik Andersen will take his turn this evening.
- Andersen played all 60 minutes last Friday against the Florida Panthers in his lone preseason appearance thus far, earning a win after stopping 15 out of 17.
Veteran Rule
- As a reminder, NHL teams must dress at least eight “veterans” in each preseason contest. “Veterans” are skaters who played 30 NHL games the previous season, goalies who dressed in 50 NHL games or played in 30 NHL games the previous year, any player who has played 100+ NHL games, or a current year first-round pick.
Fresh Faces
- 14 players in tonight’s lineup have not yet appeared in a regular season game with the Carolina Hurricanes.
- Eight players have yet to make their NHL debut.
- Sam Gagner and Rocco Grimaldi are attending training camp on professional tryouts.

Injury Updates
- Forward Jesper Fast was ruled out for the 2024-25 season in August after having neck surgery.
- Defenseman Riley Stillman (lower-body injury) has worked in a no-contact sweater each day of training camp thus far.
- Defenseman Joakim Ryan (undisclosed) has not practiced this week. Rod Brind’Amour said that he is battling an injury and that there’s no need to push him through it this time of year.
What Are We Wearing?
- The team will be wearing their white sweaters for all six preseason games.

- The Canes are scheduled to be off on Sunday and return to practice Monday.
