Ekman-Larsson fined maximum for interference in Maple Leafs game

Defenseman penalized $5,000 for actions against Lightning

NEW YORK – Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for interference against Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jake Guentzel during NHL Game No. 91 in Toronto on Monday, Oct. 21, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 5:32 of the third period. Ekman-Larsson was assessed a minor penalty for interference.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
