The good news is if the Montreal Canadiens ever can’t find defenseman Mike Matheson , they have a spare one ready to step in.

Hudson Matheson was the star of a Canadiens photos session on Friday, donning a white Canadiens shirt and borrowing a goalie mask for his close up.

The mask Hudson wore for the photos had Sam Montembeault ‘s number 35 on the chin plate. He stood between a pair of goalie pads bearing the team colors and gave a thumbs-up for the picture.

Perhaps the Canadiens could use Hudson as an emergency backup in the future. They just might have to wait a few more years before he’s eligible.
