'We Will Always Be His Fans'

Iginla expresses his sympathy to the Gaudreau family.

In 2019, on the night of Jarome’s jersey retirement, Tij and Joe Iginla participated in the Flames’ morning skate.

My family and I are grieving the loss of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew.

Even though I didn’t get the chance to play alongside Johnny, each time we encountered each other or competed, his distinctiveness was palpable. His passion for the game and infectious positivity emanated from him. “Johnny Hockey” enhanced our sport in numerous remarkable ways. My family and I consider ourselves fortunate to have shared moments with him, and we will forever be his supporters.

Iginla, while playing for the Avalanche, confronts Johnny during his first year as a professional.

During this heartbreaking time, we are praying for the Gaudreau family and friends.

May peace rest upon your soul and your brother’s soul.
