Saints sign three-time Pro Bowl edge Jason Pierre-Paul to practice squad

New Orleans is incorporating a seasoned pass-rushing presence, complemented with some Super Bowl experience.

Three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is signing with the Saints practice squad, per Thursday’s league transaction wire.

Pierre-Paul visited the Saints on Monday and has decided to stay in the Bayou, with the goal of improving their so far inadequate pass rush.

New Orleans has just 18 sacks in 2023.

The 34-year-old, a first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2010, played eight seasons in New York, four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and spent last year with the Baltimore Ravens. Pierre-Paul has Super Bowl victories to his name with both the Giants and the Bucs.

Pierre-Paul signed with the Ravens a few games into the 2022 season and ended up starting in 13 games, where he accumulated three sacks and 26 tackles.

It remains to be seen whether Pierre-Paul can enhance New Orleans’ pass-rushing figures, though he is expected to blend well with the already experienced defense.
