Saints RB Alvin Kamara, Bills RB James Cook highlight Players of the Week

Who were the NFL’s top stars in Week 2? Each Wednesday, the league unveils its weekly honor roll. See who the Players of the Week are below.

AFC Offensive Player of the Week

James Cook
Buffalo Bills · RB

Cook was the offensive catalyst in the Buffalo Bills’ 31-10 Thursday night triumph over the Miami Dolphins. Having scored two rushing touchdowns in each of his previous two seasons, the running back matched those marks with two against the Fins to go along with a receiving TD for three total. He also posted 95 scrimmage yards, with 78 coming on the ground.

NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Alvin Kamara
New Orleans Saints · RB

In a stunning 44-19 New Orleans Saints win over the host Dallas Cowboys, Kamara found the end zone four times. The dual-threat running back posted 180 scrimmage yards, with 115 yards and three touchdowns coming on the ground, while he added 65 receiving yards and a TD through the air.

AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Maxx Crosby
Las Vegas Raiders · DE

Possessing a relentless motor, Crosby proved vital in the Las Vegas Raiders’ 26-23 upset of the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Crosby posted six tackles, four tackles for loss, a pass breakup and two sacks of quarterback Lamar Jackson, which is no easy feat and included a massive one in the fourth quarter.

NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Jessie Bates
Atlanta Falcons · FS

It was in Bates’ hands that the Atlanta Falcons’ dramatic 22-21 Monday night victory over the Philadelphia Eagles was secured. Bates’ interception sealed the come-from-behind triumph and also capped a stellar evening for the safety, who racked up 12 tackles, a pair of pass breakups and a tackle for loss in addition to his INT.

AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Ka'imi Fairbairn
Houston Texans · K

Fairbairn has flexed his strong leg two weeks running. In each of his first two games, Fairbairn has connected on three fields goals of 50-plus yards. No other kicker in NFL history has done that twice in his career! The booter’s latest big-legged showing saw him turn in a perfect day to lift the Texans to a 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. In addition to an extra point, Fairbairn converted four field goals, including makes of 56, 59 and 53 yards, adding up to a lucky 13 total points for Houston.

NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Austin Seibert
Washington Commanders · K

Seibert rescued the Commanders from their kicking conundrum and then some on Sunday. Having signed with Washington just five days before his debut with the squad, Seibert converted a franchise-record seven field goals to lift the Commanders to an 21-18 win over the rival New York Giants. Seibert accounted for all of his team’s points, connecting on field goals of 27, 45, 26, 27, 33 and 30 yards, with the latter coming with no time left to win it.
