Niners WR Ricky Pearsall shot during attempted robbery in San Francisco, in stable condition

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot on Saturday afternoon in an attempted robbery at Union Square, per San Francisco mayor London Breed.

The San Francisco Police Department announced on Saturday that officers spotted two males suffering from injuries at approximately 3:37 p.m. PT.

Both males were rendered aid and medics transported them to a local hospital for further medical evaluation. Police learned in the preliminary investigation that one of the injured parties had attempted to rob the other, Pearsall, per police. The suspect is in custody and charges are pending at this time, per police.

“San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was the victim of an attempted robbery and shooting this afternoon. He sustained a bullet wound to his chest and is in serious but stable condition,” the 49ers said in a statement. “We ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ricky and the entire Pearsall family.”

Pearsall, 23, was drafted 31st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pearsall has been dealing with a shoulder injury during the preseason and returned to practice this past week.
