An old favorite will reappear in New York’s new era of branding.

The Jets will wear an all-white version of their classic uniforms during a Monday Night Football appearance this season, the team announced Monday.

Most fans should recognize the uniform, as it closely resembles the one New York donned from 1998 to 2018. This design, first made popular during Joe Namath’s time and the Super Bowl III champions, was revisited by New York in 1998. They had previously worn it as a throwback in the 1993 and 1994 seasons. The team swapped the green shell from the early ’90s for a historically accurate white helmet. They continued wearing this until 2019, when they unveiled a contemporary redesign.

Earlier this offseason, the Jets abandoned their 2019 uniforms, opting for a return to a classic look reminiscent of the New York Sack Exchange-era Jets. They also introduced a new black alternate uniform, based on the same design.

The Jets are referring to these white throwbacks as “The Classic”, although it’s a recent style. This is because they’re modeled after the uniforms worn by the Namath-led Jets. They feature a lighter shade of green than what was worn from 1998-2018 and a gray facemask authentic to that period.

The Jets will don these kits for their nationally televised Week 6 game against the AFC East-rival Buffalo Bills on Oct. 14.
