The San Francisco 49ers are already set to face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 without two of their major offensive weapons. Now, a third key element of the offense appears to be banged up.
Tight end George Kittle did not practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury, putting his availability for Sunday’s divisional matchup at SoFi Stadium in doubt.
Kittle had seven catches for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, dropping the 49ers to 1-1 on the season.
The 49ers are already without running back Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (calf strain) for at least the next game — and perhaps beyond. Losing Kittle would leave the 49ers with only one of their top playmakers available in wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
The 30-year-old Kittle has not played a complete regular season since his second year in the league, back in 2018.
Luckily for the Niners, the 0-2 Rams are also quite banged up. They’ll be without WRs Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp and are still sorting through multiple injuries on their offensive line.
