Firefighters put out large fire at home of Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill and his family are safe after fire rescue crews responded to a large fire at his South Florida home Wednesday afternoon.

WSVN 7 News showed the house in Southwest Ranches, about 30 miles northwest of Miami, on Wednesday with a significant amount of black smoke billowing from the roof while firefighters doused it with water.

Hill had been at Dolphins practice as Miami prepares for its regular-season finale against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, but he left after being told about the fire.

Drew Rosenhaus, Hill’s agent, informed reporters that some family members were at home during the fire.

“Tyreek and his family are safe,” said Rosenhaus. “We’re grateful that no one was hurt, and no pets were injured. We owe a lot to the firefighters who extinguished the fire. Luckily, the fire was limited to a small area within the house. There will be some damage from smoke and water. It’s never easy for anyone to see their home catch fire, but Tyreek and his family are handling it with as much grace as can be expected.”

Hill will not be making any comments at this time, according to Rosenhaus. He also stated that the cause is still being investigated and the incident was mostly confined to a single room.

The video captured Hill returning to his residence just prior to 3 p.m. EST, his left foot supported by a walking boot. He was spotted hugging his wife, Keeta Vaccaro, who he wed the previous month. Additionally, he was observed wandering around the vicinity of his home, often touching his chest and face while conversing with officials.

In May 2022, Hill purchased the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom property for $6.9 million.

It appeared as though firefighters were addressing issues on the uppermost sections of the building. The property listing indicated that a number of bedrooms, a home theatre, and a den were located on the upper floors. Other features of the house included a putting green, a basketball court that meets NBA specifications, a heated pool with salt-water filtration, and a 10-person spa. Two guest houses were also present on the property, along with lemon, mango, and banana trees.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said his thoughts are with Hill and his family. Tagovailoa was told about the fire after Wednesday’s practice.

“Dealing with what Tyreek is currently experiencing would be challenging for anyone, not just my teammates,” stated Tagovailoa. “The most important thing is that his family is safe. His loved ones are okay, and so is he. It may sound cliche, but material things like parts of the house, can be replaced. I’m just relieved that most of his family members are safe.”

At age 29, Hill is currently leading the NFL with a total of 1,717 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns under his belt. He holds the unique distinction of being the only player in NFL history to have achieved at least 1,700 yards in more than one season. Hill marked a total of 1,710 yards in the year 2023, his inaugural season with the Dolphins, following a trade from Kansas City in March of 2022. The Chiefs had originally drafted Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 draft.
