Dolphins activate RB De'Von Achane (knee) off injured reserve ahead of matchup with Raiders

It appears that Miami’s dynamic offense is set to regain another powerful component.

The Dolphins are activating running back De’Von Achane off of injured reserve ahead of Sunday’s game versus the Las Vegas Raiders, NFL Network Insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported Saturday, an indication that the rookie is ready take the field for the first time since Week 5.

The team later announced the move.

He’s been limited in practice all week and received a questionable designation while ramping up for his return from a knee injury.

Achane didn’t participate in the team’s opening game of the season and had only two touches in the following game. However, he made a remarkable impact in the succeeding three weeks.

During the 3rd to 5th weeks, the rookie achieved 37 carries for 455 yards, averaging 12.3 yards per carry, and scored five touchdowns. In addition, he accumulated 63 yards from receiving and scored two more touchdowns from eight receptions.

The timing of his activation is perfect for the Dolphins team, who currently leads the AFC East.

Despite holding the top spot in the NFL for both scoring and yardage, Miami had a disappointing 1-2 record in the three games before their Week 10 bye. In the first two of these games, they only managed a total of 45 and 78 rushing yards respectively.

Achane remains listed as questionable and will have to get through the inactives on Sunday, but he assures that he will improve those statistics whenever and for as long as he is on the field.

Just as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have been serving as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa‘s dangerous duo in receiving game, the backfield against Las Vegas could be humming with the speedy coupling of Achane and Raheem Mostert.

The Dolphins, with a 6-3 record, and the Raiders, standing at 5-5, will start their game on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
