2024 NFL Kickoff Game between Ravens-Chiefs delayed due to inclement weather

Kickoff for the Baltimore Ravens-Kansas City Chiefs game — and the 2024 NFL season — is delayed due to inclement weather.

With lightning in the area, the start of the 2024 NFL Kickoff Game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri has been postponed until 8:40 p.m. ET.

Roughly an hour before the game’s scheduled 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, players were cleared from the field as rain poured down amid thunder and lightning strikes in the vicinity. Fans were asked to make their way to the concourse until it was safe to return to their seats.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off a 2023 season in which they won their second Super Bowl in a row, a postseason run that included an AFC Championship Game win over QB Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
