Will Ferrell revs up crowd at Sixers-Pacers game

Will Ferrell addresses the crown before the the Sixers vs. Pacers game on Monday night in Indianapolis.

The Indiana Pacers had an unofficial addition to their in-game hype crew on Monday: actor and comedian Will Ferrell.

Ferrell was at Gainbridge Fieldhouse early on and was busy throughout the game, hilariously taking on the role of hype man for Indiana as it hosted the Philadelphia 76ers.

His visit to the game came days after he was spotted at a Walmart in Beech Grove, Ind., where he took videos and selfies with fans. Beech Grove is located about six miles southeast of the Pacers’ arena.

At Monday’s game, Ferrell was plenty busy. He took some shots on the court before the game, chatted with Pacers coach Rick Carlisle and the players in the locker room, lead the “Revving Up” pregame antics (with a surprise visit by rapper 50 Cent) and tried to get the crowd fired up between quarters, too.

Aside from 50 Cent and Ferrell being at the game, Indianapolis Colts legend Reggie Wayne and current star receiver Michael Pittman Jr. were also seated courtside.

Roughly one year ago, Ferrell was at the Golden State Warriors’ home game against the LA Clippers. Ferrell went through shooting, passing and dribbling pre-game while sporting a vintage-style headband and dressed in his Jackie Moon jersey from the 2008 hoops film “Semi-Pro.”
