CLEVELAND (AP) — Rockets coach Stephen Silas was treated for dehydration in the locker room after leaving the court during their game against the Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

Silas motioned to assistant coach John Lucas to take over the team as he walked off the floor late in the first quarter. He received fluids from the Rockets’ medical staff and spent the remainder of the game in the locker room. He was able to travel back to Houston with the team.

Lucas served as acting coach when the Rockets returned to the floor for the third quarter. Ultimately, Houston lost 124-89 to Cleveland.

“He’s OK, he’s better,” Lucas said. “We were slowly drifting when Coach left and we lost our composure for about five minutes after. They just had us at everything.”

Silas, 48, is in his second season in charge of Houston and has a 26-74 record. He is the son of longtime NBA coach and Celtics big man Paul Silas.
