The worth of the last year of a five-year contract signed by Gasol with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2015 is around $25.6 million. If the 34-year-old Spaniard had not accepted before Thursday, he would have been a free agent by Sunday.

Kawhi Leonard, the star player of Raptors, has a one-year player option in his contract with a decision deadline on Saturday. However, he is anticipated to reject it, becoming a free agent on Sunday. This comes after his pivotal role in leading Toronto to their first NBA title. Another key Raptors player, Danny Green, is also expected to become a free agent.

In February, the Raptors obtained Gasol from the Grizzlies.

This season, Gasol averaged 13.6 points and 7.9 rebounds over 79 regular-season games with the Raptors and Memphis. During 24 playoff games, his average was 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds.
