Reports: JaMychal Green leaves Clippers for Nuggets

The Nuggets have reportedly quickly pivoted toward another frontcourt option, as Shams Charania of The Athletic reports they agreed to sign forward JaMychal Green from rival LA. The 30-year-old, who averaged 6.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in 20.7 minutes off the bench for the Clippers, intends to ink a two-year, $15 million deal.

Report: Spurs keep Poeltl in the fold

Another big man is reportedly striking it … big, with Shams Charania of The Athletic reporting that Jakob Poeltl will stay with the Spurs on a three-year deal worth approximately $27 million. He averaged 5.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in just 17.7 minutes, shooting 62.4% from the floor.

The Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly retained a key piece of their bench rotation, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Guard Pat Connaughton, who averaged 5.4 points and 4.2 rebounds while delighting with dunks throughout his fifth season, is expected to return on a two-year, $8.3 million deal.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe reports that Indiana has retained swingman Justin Holiday for three years and $18 million. He averaged 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 25.0 minutes off the bench, shooting 40.5% from 3-point range.

2020 AT&T Slam Dunk champion Derrick Jones Jr. established himself as key rotation player for the Heat, providing 3-and-D value to complement his outrageous dunking ability. Reports: Christian Wood headed to Rockets in sign-and-trade

The Rockets have reportedly come to an agreement with Pistons big man Christian Wood on a free agent deal that will be executed via sign-and-trade, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The 24-year-old Wood blossomed when pressed into the starting lineup for the injury-riddled Pistons, averaging 21.9 points, 9.4 rebounds and shooting 40.8% from 3-point range in that role.

The move would further an offseason effort to remake the Rockets’ frontcourt after reportedly trading Robert Covington to Portland in exchange for Trevor Ariza and two first-round picks. Meanwhile, superstar guards James Harden and Russell Westbrook have each reportedly asked to be traded.

Multiple reports say that reigning MTN DEW 3-Point Contest winner Joe Harris has agreed to re-sign with Brooklyn for four years and $75 million.

The six-year veteran is coming off his third consecutive season shooting better than 40% from 3-point range, including a league-leading 47.4% clip in 2018-19.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Washington will sign forward Anthony Gill, who most recently played for Khimki Moscow Region, to a two-year deal. The 6-foot-8, 28-year-old Gill posted 8.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 19 minutes across 25 Euroleague games (11 starts).

Reports: Jazz bring back Favors, re-sign Clarkson

After spending the majority of his career with the Jazz, Derrick Favors is reportedly ready for a reunion. The 29-year-old Favors started in 49 of the 51 games he played for New Orleans, averaging a career-high 9.8 rebounds in just 24.4 minutes per game.

Pistons, Okafor reportedly reach deal

Add another big man to the Detroit Pistons’ growing cast of them.

Jahlil Okafor, the former No. 3 overall pick of the 2015 draft, is reportedly headed to Detroit, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Okafor was an All-Rookie performer in 2015-16 with the Philadelphia 76ers after averaging 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. But his numbers steadily declined as the Sixers shifted more in the direction of future All-Star center Joel Embiid.

Okafor the past two seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans in a backup role, averaging 8.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 1.2 apg last season. He will join a Detroit roster that — provided all the reported deals go through — will have a frontline of Okafor, Mason Plumlee, Blake Griffin and Dewyane Dedmon.

Report: Plumlee headed to Pistons

Detroit has spent the early part of this offseason reshaping its roster, and that continued on Friday.

Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and others, former Denver Nuggets center Mason Plumlee has agreed to a three-year deal with the Pistons. Plumlee spent the last four seasons with Denver, averaging 7.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in 2019-20. A solid shot-blocker and paint defender, Plumlee will join new Pistons big man Dewayne Dedmon in a revamped center rotation.

Bacon reportedly reaches deal with Magic

Former Charlotte Hornets swingman Dwane Bacon has found a home in the same division, it seems.

Bacon has reached a two-year deal with the Orlando Magic, reports Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, in a move that reunites him with his first coach in Charlotte, Steve Clifford. After averaging a career-best 7.3 points and 47.5% shooting in 2018-19 with the Hornets, Bacon’s stats dipped last season (5.7 ppg, 34.8% FG) as he struggled offensively and, by February, was playing in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm.

Spurs’ Eubanks reportedly re-signs

The San Antonio Spurs are willing to keep investing in Drew Eubanks.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Eubanks and the Spurs have agreed to a three-year deal that will keep the former undrafted big man in San Antonio. He took a slight step forward in 2019-20, averaging 4.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game after posting 1.8 ppg and 1.5 rpg in just 4.9 mpg as a rookie in 2018-19. Eubanks was originally signed the Spurs on a two-way deal in September of 2018.

Report: Matthews plans to head to Lakers

Veteran swingman Wes Matthews is reportedly headed back to the Western Conference.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports Matthews plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency after spending last season with the Milwaukee Bucks. He played and started in 67 games with the Bucks (all starts), he averaged 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while nailing 36.4% of his 3-pointers.

A solid defender and career 38.1% 3-point shooter, Matthews would give the Lakers a capable outside presence and help space the floor for LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Matthews previously played for the Utah Jazz (2009-10), Portland Trail Blazers (2010-15), Dallas Mavericks (2015-18), New York Knicks (2018-19) and Indiana Pacers (2018-19) before joining the Bucks as a free agent in the summer of 2019.

Report: Nuggets, Campazzo agree to deal

The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a deal with 29-year-old guard Facundo Campazzo, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Last season with Real Madrid, Campazzo averaged 9.6 points, 6.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds in nine games. He is known for his flashy, creative play and was once teammates with Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic when both players were on Real Madrid. Per The Denver Post‘s Mike Singer, Campazzo is expected to share backup point guard duties in Denver with Monte Morris.

Dragic, Leonard say they are staying with Heat

Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic is staying put in free agency. And while you’re at it, take Meyers Leonard off the free-agent board as well.

The veteran point guard posted a video on Twitter that he is staying with the Heat. Per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press, the deal is for two years, with the second being at the Heat’s option. As for Leonard, he told Reynolds he intends to sign a two-year deal with Miami with the second being at the team’s option.

The Meyers Leonard two-year deal with Miami is worth nearly $20M, @caa_sports agents Aaron Mintz and Dave Spahn tell ESPN.

Dragic has spent the last 5 1/2 seasons with the Heat, becoming an All-Star in 2017-18. Last season, he was instrumental in Miami’s run to The Finals as he averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists in the regular season. He upped those numbers in the playoffs to 19.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 4.4 apg. However, he was hobbled by a torn plantar fascia in his left foot suffered in the first half of Game 1 of The Finals.

Leonard played his first season with the Heat in 2019-20 and also proved valuable. He averaged 6.1 ppg and 5.1 rpg as regular starter during the season. He was limited to three playoff games as he fell out of the Heat’s rotation as the team opted to start Jae Crowder to give the team more versatility on the perimeter.

Timberwolves reunite with Rubio

In their quest to rise up the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves are welcoming back to a point guard from their recent past.

Ricky Rubio, a former Timberwolves lottery pick who played for the team from 2011-17, is back on the team via a trade involving Minnesota, the Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks. In the trade, Rubio and the Draft rights to Jaden McDaniels (No. 28 pick in 2020 Draft) head to the Timberwolves from the Thunder. The Draft rights to Leandro Bolmaro (No. 23 pick in 2020) also head over from the Knicks.

Minnesota will send forward James Johnson, the Draft rights to Aleksej Pokusevski (No. 17 pick, 2020 Draft) and a 2024 second-round pick to the Thunder. Minnesota sends the Draft rights to Mathias Lessort (No. 50 pick, 2017 Draft) and Detroit’s 2023 second-round pick to the Knicks while the Thunder send the Draft rights to Immanuel Quickley (No. 25 pick, 2020 Draft) to New York. The move had been reported in the wake of the 2020 Draft, but became official on Friday afternoon.

In his six seasons with the Wolves, Rubio averaged 10.3 points, 8.5 assists 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals in 353 games. One of the team’s more popular players, he was dealt to the Utah Jazz before the 2017-18 season and spent two seasons there. After that, he signed with the Phoenix Suns last season and was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in this offseason’s blockbuster Chris Paul trade.

Report: Celtics trade Kanter back to Blazers

Enes Kanter is heading back to Portland after a one season hiatus, it seems.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports the Boston Celtics are trading Kanter to the Trail Blazers as part of a three-way deal also involving the Memphis Grizzlies. In the reported deal, Memphis gets Mario Hezonja and the 30th pick in the 2020 Draft (Desmond Bane) while the Celtics get a future Draft consideration from the Grizzlies.

Kanter left the Blazers as a free agent last summer to sign with Boston. Before that, he joined Portland in Feburary of 2019 after being waived by the New York Knicks. In Portland, both he and the team flourished as the Blazers made the Western Conference finals. Kanter averaged 13.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 23 regular-season games, filling in for the injured Jusuf Nurkic. In the 2019 playoffs, he averaged 11.4 ppg and 9.7 rpg.

Kanter reportedly opted into his contract for 2020-21 as of Thursday and, on Friday, was clearly happy about this trade. On Twitter, he posted a “home” emoji shortly after news of it broke.

Hawks trade Dedmon to Pistons for Snell

Two teams with playoff aspirations in the Eastern Conference have made a trade to address some key needs.

The Atlanta Hawks have sent center Dewayne Dedmon to the Detroit Pistons for guards Tony Snell and Khyri Thomas, the latter of whom was waived by Atlanta. The trade was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and confirmed by the teams today. The move frees up considerable salary cap room for the Hawks after shedding Dedmon, who is making $13.3 million this season. Snell will make $12.1 million in 2020-21, which is the final year of his contract, while Dedmon’s $13.3 million for 2021-22 is non-guaranteed.

Dedmon gives the Pistons a frontcourt presence and rebounder. He averaged 8.1 points and 8.2 rebounds in 10 games with the Hawks last season after being traded there by the Sacramento Kings on Feb. 6. Snell is a solid 3-point shooter, making 40.2% of those shots last season with the Pistons and is a career 38.5% shooter from 3-point range.

Warriors waive guard Bowman

Guard Ky Bowman, who appeared in 45 games for Golden State in 2019-20, was waived by the team on Friday. Bowman averaged 7.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.9 assists and 1 steal per game for the Warriors as a rookie last season. He started 12 games for Golden State and, per Charania, is expected to receive interest around the league.

Report: Pelicans pass on 2 qualifying offers

A pair of second-year players in New Orleans will be hitting the open market, reports Andrew Lopez of ESPN. Forward Kenrich Williams and guard Frank Jackson will not get qualifying offers from the Pelicans and will be unrestricted free agents. Last season, Williams averaged 3.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 39 games with the Pelicans, while Jackson, a guard, averaged 6.3 ppg, 1.4 rpg and 1.0 apg in 59 games.
