Reports: Hawks trade Dedmon to Pistons
A reported trade has been orchestrated between two Eastern Conference teams with playoff ambitions to address some crucial needs.
According to various reports, the Atlanta Hawks have traded center Dewayne Dedmon to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Tony Snell and Khyri Thomas. This news was initially reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. This trade allows the Hawks to free up significant salary cap space since Dedmon, who earns $13.3 million this season, has been traded off. Snell, on the other hand, will earn $12.1 million in 2020-21, which is his contract’s final year, while Dedmon’s $13.3 million for 2021-22 is non-guaranteed.
Sources inform ESPN that Detroit is swapping Khyri Thomas and Tony Snell for Dewayne Dedmon from Atlanta.

Confirmed that the #Pistons are getting Dewayne Dedmon for the #Hawks for Tony Snell and Khyri Thomas.
Dedmon is scheduled to earn $13.3M this season, with an unguaranteed $13.3M for the 2021-2022 season.
— Rod Beard (@detnewsRodBeard) November 19, 2020
Dedmon provides the Pistons with a strong frontcourt presence and rebounding abilities on the court. After being traded from the Sacramento Kings to the Hawks on Feb. 6 last season, he averaged 8.1 points and 8.2 rebounds in 10 games. Dedmon has a track record as a competent frontcourt player, with averages of 10.8 points per game (ppg) and 7.5 rebounds per game (rpg) in 2018-19, and 10.0 ppg and 7.9 rpg in 2017-18.
With a solid record as a 3-point shooter, Snell made 40.2% of his shots last season with the Pistons and boasts a career 3-point shooting average of 38.5%. His range will be beneficial for the Hawks, particularly for young All-Star guard Trae Young, and will provide more offensive space for big men John Collins and Clint Capela.

Charlotte Hornets
Report: Bacon won’t get qualifying offer
Charlotte reportedly plans to forgo offering a qualifying offer to third-year guard Dwane Bacon, which will make him an unrestricted free agent this summer.
According to Rod Boone from The Athletic, the Hornets’ decision to part ways with Bacon, who has been with the team since 2017, appeared unavoidable after Devonte’ Graham replaced him in the starting lineup. Bacon had an impressive career-best average of 7.3 points and a shooting percentage of 47.5% in the 2018-19 season. However, his performance declined last season, with only 5.7 points per game and a 34.8% field goal percentage. His offensive struggles led him to play in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm by February.
Per a league source, #Hornets will not extend a qualifying offer to Dwayne Bacon by today's deadline, making him an unrestricted free agent. Bacon began last season as the starting shooting guard but struggled and was replaced in lineup by Devonte' Graham. Split seemed inevitable

Over his career, he has maintained a 40.7% 3-point shooting average and has gained significant playoff experience. This makes him a potentially intriguing prospect in the 2020 free-agent market.
McGee was a starter in 68 regular-season games and 11 out of 14 playoff games, contributing to the Lakers’ victory in the 2020 NBA championship. He shared his position with Dwight Howard, an experienced player, and their combined efforts provided L.A. with some effective playing time, often alongside All-Star player Anthony Davis.
