Eddie Jones (Oct. 20, 1971)
Steady Eddie was the 10th pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. The Los Angeles Lakers selected him as a foundational piece, and he made the All-Star team in two of his four seasons with LA. Unfortunately, he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets, making his third and final All-Star team in his second and only season with Charlotte. He was then traded to the Miami Heat in a blockbuster trade that included guys like Antoine Walker, Jason Williams, Rasual Butler, Greg Ostertag and James Posey. Most fans remember him for his time with the Heat, spending six seasons in South Beach. He then closed his career by playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks. His first 10 seasons in LA, Charlotte and Miami is where he did most of his damage, averaging 16.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.7 blocks in that decade-long span! His three All-Star appearances are nothing compared to his defense, receiving All-Defensive Team votes nine times throughout his career while also leading the league with 2.7 steals in the 1999 season.
Rodney Hood (Oct. 20, 1992):
Hood was taken 23rd overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. The sharpshooter had some big seasons in Utah, averaging 13.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals per game. He ended up playing four seasons with the Jazz but was a key piece to a midseason trade due to his career-high 16.8 points per game. The Cleveland Cavaliers added him as a bench piece in the 2017 season, but he only spent two seasons with the Cavs. Small stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers marked the end for Hood, playing his final game in 2022. He hasn’t officially retired, with Hood currently playing for the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G-League.
