Tom Sanders (1938): “Satch” was the eighth overall pick in the 1960 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. The winger spent his full 13-year career in Boston, winning eight championships in nine years with that dynasty. He was a key contributor, averaging 9.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists throughout his career. Sanders retired in 1973 and took the coaching job at Harvard University, becoming the first African-American head coach in the Ivy League. Sanders returned to the Celtics as coach in 1978. He founded the generational Rookie Transition Program and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
Keyonte George (2003): George’s career is starting to take off in his second season with the Utah Jazz. The young guard was the 16th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Baylor and broke out in the second half of his rookie season. George started the final 28 games last season, averaging 15.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. That earned him the starting point guard position this season.
