LAS VEGAS — Terrence Shannon Jr. poured in 25 points to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to an 81-74 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas on Friday at Thomas and Mack Center.

The game got off to a competitive start, as the Timberwolves held a one-point edge after one quarter. They picked up the pace in the second and rallied to a 10-point lead before the Pelicans cut it back to a five-point game at the break. The Pelicans stayed strong to start the third and tied the score at 53, but the Timberwolves got back in front for a six-point lead heading into the final frame. The Pelicans were not done and rallied for a two-point lead midway through the fourth until the Timberwolves closed the game on a 13-6 run to lock in the win.

Shannon Jr. shot 9-for-14 from the field and added three rebounds, a steal and a block to his game-high scoring effort to lead the Timberwolves. Daishen Nix followed up with 14 points, four rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block, while Josh Minott logged 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block.

Jordan Hawkins led the Pelicans with 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes. Jordan Hall followed up with 11 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks, while Karlo Matkovic chipped in eight points, eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks.

Both teams will continue Summer League play Sunday. The Timberwolves will face the Pacers, while the Pelicans will take on the Magic.
