Tre Jones sinks tough game-winner with 0.4 left

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 106-105, in the MGM Resorts Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Thursday.
It took seven ties and seven lead changes to determine a winner in this high-scoring battle, with neither club leading by more than 10 points. With that said, San Antonio led for all but a few minutes in total, getting a game-winning lay-up and victory-sealing steal from Tre Jones in the final two seconds. The Spurs ended up shooting 55% from the field, 35% from three-point range and 86% from the free-throw line. San Antonio’s starters also outscored Charlotte’s starters by 21 points.
Jones led the Spurs with 34 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. Jaylen Morris amassed 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. DaQuan Jeffries generated 13 points, three rebounds and three assists while Joe Wieskamp collected 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
James Bouknight led the Hornets with 23 points, four rebounds and eight assists. Vernon Carey totaled 19 points and eight boards. Grant Riller had 13 points and seven assists while JT Thor led the bench with 10 points and seven rebounds.
On deck for Charlotte is a matchup with the Toronto Raptors on Saturday. As for San Antonio, they return to action on Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets.
