The Wizards wind up with George, a versatile forward with deep shooting range who averaged 7.6 points and 2.2 rebounds at Miami in 2023-24. He needs work on his ballhandling and playmaking, but he has a unique blend of size and rhythm that makes him an appealing prospect.
Washington dealt Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers on Draft night in a separate trade, which opens up some frontcourt minutes that George could potentially grab. In the Avdija trade, the Wizards got guard Carlton Carrington, the No. 14 pick. He is a high-scoring guard who could develop into a scoring threat for the Wizards in the seasons to come.
Jones, a former standout guard at Weber State, heads to Oklahoma City where he’ll fit into a deep backcourt that already features Lu Dort, Cason Wallace, Isaiah Joe and Kia MVP candidate Shai-Gilgeous-Alexander.
Last season, Jones posted 20.8 ppg, 5.2 apg and 2.0 spg and has the scoring ability and size to make an impact in the NBA as a role player.
