Kemba Walker averaged 11.6 points in 37 games this season.
Kemba Walker’s season is over.
Walker and the New York Knicks mutually agreed for the four-time All-Star to be shut down for the remainder of the season, team president Leon Rose announced on Wednesday.
He will spend the upcoming time away to get ready for the 2022-23 campaign, which marks the final year of his contract.
“We fully support Kemba’s decision to shut it down for the remainder of the season and to use this time to prepare for next season,” Rose said. “His long-term success on the court remains our priority.”

Walker had been taken out of the Knicks’ rotation in November, but eventually returned due to a lack of available players.
The former UConn star has averaged career lows in points (11.6) and assists (3.5) throughout 37 appearances this season.
The Knicks are 12th in the Eastern Conference and enter Friday’s contest against the Miami Heat on a three-game losing streak.
