After taking Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick in the first round, the Atlanta Hawks have added another pick to their Draft-day mix.

Atlanta completed a three-team trade with the Rockets and Heat, sending AJ Griffin to Houston. Atlanta acquired the draft rights to Nikola Djurišić (No. 43 overall pick in 2024 NBA Draft) from Miami, in exchange for cash considerations. Houston acquires Griffin, the 16th pick in the 2022 Draft, while Miami acquires the draft rights to Pelle Larsson (No. 44 overall) from Houston.

Hawks get:

  • Nikola Djurisic (No. 43 pick, via Heat)

Rockets get:

  • AJ Griffin (via Hawks)

Heat get:

  • Cash considerations (via Hawks)
  • Pelle Larsson (No. 44 pick, via Rockets)

Griffin was a key contributor for the Hawks as a rookie, appearing in 72 games and averaging 8.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1 assist in 19.5 minutes per game. However, his role declined sharply in 2023-24, appearing in just 20 games and posted 2.4 ppg, 0.9 rpg and 0.3 apg in 8.5 mpg.

Griffin may have a better opportunity to get playing time in Houston. The Rockets have Jeff Green and Jae’Sean Tate — both of whom were solid contributors — on team options this summer. Should they return, Griffin would join a mix that includes that duo as well as Jabari Smith Jr., Dillon Brooks and Cam Whitmore in the Rockets’ forward corps.
