Bucks, relatives say Antetokounmpo’s social media was hacked

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo’s social media accounts were hacked on Thursday afternoon and several bizarre and offensive tweets were posted, according to the Milwaukee Bucks, Antetokounmpo’s brother and the player’s representatives.

Over the course of about five minutes, Antetokounmpo’s Twitter feed was flooded with over a dozen tweets that seemed to be clearly authored by someone other than the current MVP. The content of these tweets consisted of racial slurs, obscene assaults on other players, and a false assertion that Antetokounmpo was infected with the coronavirus.

“Giannis’ social media, phone, email, and banking accounts have been compromised!” tweeted Kostas Antetokounmpo, a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers. “He sincerely apologizes for all the inappropriate and distasteful messages that were posted. He plans to return as soon as possible. The hacker’s comments were utterly reprehensible and vile!”

Antetokounmpo took to Twitter, expressing his disappointment and disgust over the extremely inappropriate tweets and posts. He was appalled that someone could utter such terrible things.
