The 2021-22 Nike NBA City Edition Uniforms honor a team whose history includes some of the greatest players and greatest rivalries in sports, as well as a coach who broke barriers with the first all-Black starting lineup and changed the way every team played the game.
In honor of the NBA’s 75th season, the jersey act as a tribute to the Celtics’ most iconic moments:
- The foundation of this uniform is based on the 1946 and 1949 Celtics teams.
- The uniforms stay true to the Celtics’ classic style, but look closer and you’ll see that Lucky returns to his look from the unmatched title run of the 1960s, along with the arm and neck stripes.
- On the shorts, two shamrocks honor Red Auerbach and the 75th anniversary of one of only two NBA teams that have called the same city home for all 75 seasons.
- And the anthem detail of the jersey honors every retired number, each of Boston’s 17 titles, Red’s signature, and his iconic statement: “The Boston Celtics are not a basketball team, they’re a way of life.”
