Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic (wrist) out for season

The Utah Jazz declared on Tuesday that Bojan Bogdanovic, their second-highest scorer, will be sidelined for the rest of the season following a successful surgery on his right wrist.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Monday that Bogdanovic needed surgery on his right wrist to repair an injury he suffered in January. During the season’s hiatus — which began in mid-March — Bogdanovic began to experience discomfort from the injury, Wojnarowski reported.

According to the team, he has suffered a rupture to the scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. The team did not verify the timeline of January, instead, they stated that he was injured “sometime in 2019”. They also added that this injury continued to trouble Bogdanovic throughout the 2019-20 season.

According to the Jazz, Bogdanovic will not return for any part of the 2019-20 season or playoffs, should they resume.

Not long after Bogdanovic’s injury was reported on Twitter, Donovan Mitchell, the All-Star guard for the Jazz, tweeted: “Respect to my brother [Bojan] for battling all year for us… he’s one of the toughest guys I know. Recover and prepare for the next season.”

Salute to my brotha @44Bojan for fighting through for us all year… one of the toughest dudes I know!! Get right and ready for next season

This season, Bogdanovic averaged 20.2 points and made 41.4% of his 3-point shots, ranking him second-best in both categories on the Jazz. The team made significant changes to its roster in the 2019 offseason, with one of their major actions being the signing of Bogdanovic to a four-year contract reportedly worth $73 million.
