Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic (wrist) out for season

The Utah Jazz revealed on Tuesday that their second-highest scorer, Bojan Bogdanovic, will miss the rest of the season due to a successful right wrist surgery.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Monday that Bogdanovic needed surgery on his right wrist to repair an injury he suffered in January. During the season’s hiatus — which began in mid-March — Bogdanovic began to experience discomfort from the injury, Wojnarowski reported.

According to the team, he has a ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. They did not confirm that the injury happened in January, instead stating that it occurred “sometime in 2019”. Bogdanovic was reportedly bothered by it throughout the 2019-20 season.

According to the Jazz, Bogdanovic will not return for any part of the 2019-20 season or playoffs, should they resume.

Not long after Bogdanovic’s injury news broke on Twitter, Donovan Mitchell, All-Star guard for the Jazz, tweeted: “Hats off to my brother [Bojan] for battling all year for us… he’s one of the toughest guys I know. Get well and prepare for next season.”

This season, Bogdanovic achieved an average of 20.2 points and a 41.4% 3-point shooting rate, making these the second-best records for the Jazz. In the 2019 offseason, Utah made significant changes to its roster, including a significant move of signing Bogdanovic on a four-year contract reportedly worth $73 million.
