Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic (wrist) out for season

On Tuesday, the Utah Jazz revealed that their second-highest scorer, Bojan Bogdanovic, will miss the rest of the season following a successful right wrist surgery.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Monday that Bogdanovic needed surgery on his right wrist to repair an injury he suffered in January. During the season’s hiatus — which began in mid-March — Bogdanovic began to experience discomfort from the injury, Wojnarowski reported.

According to the team, his injury is a ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. Instead of confirming the January timeline, the team stated that his injury happened “sometime in 2019” and it continued to trouble Bogdanovic throughout the 2019-20 season.

According to the Jazz, Bogdanovic will not return for any part of the 2019-20 season or playoffs, should they resume.

Not long after Bogdanovic’s injury was reported on Twitter, Jazz All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell posted a tweet which read: “Salute to my brother [Bojan] for battling all year for us…one of the most resilient people I know. Recuperate and prepare for the next season.”

Salute to my brotha @44Bojan for fighting through for us all year… one of the toughest dudes I know!! Get right and ready for next season

This season, Bogdanovic had an average of 20.2 points and a 41.4% 3-point shooting record, ranking second-best in both categories for the Jazz. In 2019, Utah Jazz went through a significant roster overhaul, which included signing Bogdanovic to a reported four-year contract worth $73 million, marking one of the team’s major moves.
