Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic (wrist) out for season

The Utah Jazz confirmed on Tuesday that their second-highest scorer, Bojan Bogdanovic, will be sidelined the rest of the season after undergoing successful surgery on his right wrist.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Monday that Bogdanovic needed surgery on his right wrist to repair an injury he suffered in January. During the season’s hiatus — which began in mid-March — Bogdanovic began to experience discomfort from the injury, Wojnarowski reported.

The team has reported that his injury is a ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. They did not confirm the reported timeline of January, instead stating that the injury happened “sometime in 2019”. They further added that it continued to cause discomfort to Bogdanovic throughout the 2019-20 season.

According to the Jazz, Bogdanovic will not return for any part of the 2019-20 season or playoffs, even if they do resume.

After Bogdanovic’s injury news surfaced on Twitter, Donovan Mitchell, All-Star guard for the Jazz, tweeted, “Hats off to my brother Bojan for his perseverance all year… one of the strongest guys I know. Get well and prepare for the next season.”

Salute to my brotha @44Bojan for fighting through for us all year… one of the toughest dudes I know!! Get right and ready for next season

This season, Bogdanovic achieved an average of 20.2 points and a 41.4% shooting score on 3-pointers, making these the second-best records for the Jazz. During the 2019 offseason, Utah underwent a major roster revamp, and one of their significant actions was reportedly signing Bogdanovic to a four-year contract worth $73 million.
