Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic (wrist) out for season

The Utah Jazz revealed on Tuesday that Bojan Bogdanovic, their second-highest scorer, will miss the rest of the season following a successful surgery on his right wrist.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news on Monday that Bogdanovic needed surgery on his right wrist to repair an injury he suffered in January. During the season’s hiatus — which began in mid-March — Bogdanovic began to experience discomfort from the injury, Wojnarowski reported.

The team has reported that his injury is a ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. While the team did not confirm the injury happened in January, they stated it occurred “sometime in 2019”. They also mentioned that this injury continued to cause discomfort to Bogdanovic during the 2019-20 season.

According to the Jazz, Bogdanovic will not return for any part of the 2019-20 season or playoffs, should they resume.

Just after Bogdanovic’s injury was announced on Twitter, Jazz All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell posted a tweet. He said, “Salute to my brother [Bojan] for battling all year for us… one of the toughest guys I know. Prepare and get ready for the next season.”

This season, Bogdanovic had an average of 20.2 points and a 41.4% success rate on 3-pointers, both stats placing him second-best on the Jazz. In the 2019 offseason, Utah made significant changes to its roster, including the notable acquisition of Bogdanovic with a reported four-year contract worth $73 million.
