Golden State is about to enter the home stretch with the core that helped create an era. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green are still around and at varying stages of production and keeping the Warriors as a factor.
It has been a terrific run for this franchise and now the quest for continuation begins; question is, when will it end?
What’s new?
- Chris Paul brings savvy and experience to the backcourt; the Warriors must find the right role for him.
- Rather than continue with an uncomfortable situation, the Warriors gave Jordan Poole a one-way ticket to Washington and a fresh start.
- Mike Dunleavy is the new man in charge in the front office, replacing Bob Myers, who left by mutual decision.
How far can the Warriors go?
The days of Warrior dominance are done, but that doesn’t mean Golden State won’t be in the mix. At least as long as Curry is MVP-caliber and Thompson and Draymond have a champion’s heart. The key is Paul and how much, if any, he can be a factor.
1 player that must take a leap
Jonathan Kuminga. He’s one of the few remaining young players the Warriors took a chance on, and he had his time in the development system. Now it’s time for him to be a rotational factor. Being part of the pick-and-roll with Paul will help.

Upcoming free agents
The Warriors have four players who will be free agents in 2024:
- Corey Joseph
- Dario Saric
- Klay Thompson
- Lester Quinones
All eyes are on Thompson and negotiations that could get tricky. He spent the bulk of his previous contract extension in recovery from injuries. Will the Warriors give him a similar deal, or play hardball?
