Sparks vs Storm Prediction & Picks (6/11): Will Seattle Get Back on Track at Home?

When one win streak ends, the opportunity is there to begin another one, and that is what the Seattle Storm will be looking to do tonight when they host the Los Angeles Sparks in tonight’s late WNBA tip-off (10:00 pm ET, WNBA League Pass).

On Sunday, the Storm’s six-game win streak came to a screeching halt at the hands of the Minnesota Lynx, who rode Kayla McBride’s sizzling shooting and strong defense to an 83-64 win at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

But Seattle (7-4) is heavily favored to get back into the win column tonight at Climate Pledge Arena against their visitors from Los Angeles (4-7), who make the trip to the Emerald City after picking up home wins over the Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces.

Tonight’s matchup will see Seattle’s Nneka Ogwumike line up against the Sparks for the first time. Ogwumike spent the first 12 seasons of her WNBA career with the Sparks, leading the franchise to his third and most recent title in 2016.

Los Angeles Sparks vs Seattle Storm Betting Analysis

Both the 5-4 Aces (Chelsea Gray) and 3-7 Wings (Satou Sabally) are dealing with some struggles early on due to the absence of injured stars. That certainly doesn’t diminish the significance of the Sparks’ wins, however.

Those are the kinds of wins that can be big for the development of rookies Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson, both of whom played a role in the wins over Dallas and Las Vegas. Brink recorded her first WNBA double-double against the Wings (10 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, two steals) and had eight points, six boards, and five blocks against the Aces, while Jackson had eight points against the Wings and tied season highs with 16 points and five rebounds against the Aces.

But will that success travel with the Sparks? To date, their only road win in four attempts is an 88-82 win over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on May 28.

If that is to potentially change, they will have to be a bit stingier than in their previous road games. On the road, they are allowing an average of 85.3 points per game and have given up at least 80 points (in regulation) in each game.

That doesn’t bode well for their chances tonight. When the Storm have scored 80+ points in regulation this season, they are a perfect 5-0 and have won by double digits three times.

Sparks vs Storm Picks

Storm -10.5

Sunday was rough for the Storm, but I expect them to return to winning ways tonight and do so comfortably. The Sparks are starting to move in the right direction, but they still have a long way to go. Look for the Storm to improve to 6-0 when scoring 80+ points.
